Good Free Font Resources

I am very very picky about fonts. I look for typefaces to be well drawn and have good set spacing and kerning, etc. That said, if they don’t, I can fix it, but I don’t want to recommend them to people who can’t or won’t know to do so.

So where should you go to look for good free fonts? Please avoid dafont.com, most of those are a no. They are made so quick and dirty and, well, they look it. Instead, try these sites:

Jellyka Fonts [Note, some of these aren’t super great or fabulously drawn but if used appropriately and sparingly, these are some pretty good handwritten fonts overall]

Great Web Fonts

Most freely available web fonts have free desktop counterparts floating around. So if you fall in love with one, finding and downloading at .ttf or a .otf should only be a google search away.
